How to Turn on Adobe Flash in Chrome Browser

It is virtually impossible to access media content like games, videos, and music without Adobe Flash technology. While there are some other alternatives and more websites start switching to them, Flash is still a pivotal piece of tech required to surf the web. However, it may crash or not work properly out of nowhere. In such cases, you may need to restart it.

Checking and Upgrading Flash

Outdated versions of the plug-in usually work correctly and won’t cause any troubles for users. However, some websites may require you to have the latest version of the software. In such cases, you will need to manually update it. In order to do so, you will need to go to the settings once again. Below is the list of actions you will need to perform:
1. In the address bar of the browser, input “chrome://components/”.
2. Search for the submenu called “Adobe Flash Player”.

3. Right underneath the listing, you will see the version and you can click the link called “check for update”. Doing so will prompt the process of automatic updates. The software will start searching for available updates and immediately install the latest version if it exists.

4. In the vast majority of cases, performing these actions will solve problems with accessing media content that was unavailable due to the outdated version of the Flash plug-in.

Installing and Reinstalling Flash

In rare cases, critical errors and bugs can cause improper functionality or inability of the plug-in to correctly process media files. In such scenarios, you can simply reinstall it. You will need to do the following:
1. Go to the website “https://adoble.com/go/chrome”.

2. Choose the operating system and PPAPI as your browser.
3. Download the software package and launch it.

Additional troubleshooting

If you still cannot view media materials properly, you may need to update the browser itself. Open the menu and search for the item “Update Google Chrome”. If you do not see it, you are already using the latest version of the software.

If all of the options described above do not work, you can open settings and go to the extensions page in order to manually disable some of the plug-ins and add-ons. In rare scenarios, these add-ons may cause problems with functionality. Try disabling them one-by-one to see if one of them is the root of the issue. Also, check whether you can access similar content on other websites since the real problem may be with the files you are trying to access.
