Frustrated with periodic glitches with your Firefox browser? You’re not alone, but don’t worry too much because it can usually be easily fixed.

Over time, Firefox tends to work intermittently. Users of this browser report periodic freezes and slow operation. If you can’t fix such problems, you can use the Refresh option of the Firefox settings. Like the reset function in other browsers, the Refresh Firefox function also updates Firefox settings to default values.

Here are the steps to take to get you, and Firefox, back to where you want to be.

Firefox Browser Recovery Process

2. In the menu that opens, select the Help item located at the bottom of the window

3. Next, click on the item called Troubleshooting Information.

4. On the right side, left-click on Refresh Firefox.

5. Confirm browser reset by clicking on Refresh Firefox. The cleaning process starts. It will be completed in a few seconds depending on the amount of data stored by the browser on the device.

During the upgrade process, Firefox will retain some of the user’s personal data, such as personal information and Firefox settings. Among the stored data:

• Bookmarks

• Browser History

• Passwords

• Cookies

• About Auto-fill Web Forms

• Personal dictionary

Some data will be deleted or restored to their default state. After you click the Refresh Firefox button, all your Firefox settings, including the search engine and homepage, will be restored to default. Moreover, your extensions, sync settings, open tabs, tab groups, themes and toolbars will be deleted.

After cleaning Firefox, a folder with the old profile data will be placed on the desktop of the computer called Old Firefox Data. Be careful as this folder contains your personal data.
