Often, malware silently downloads and installs along with other programs. If your computer starts to run slowly, pop-up messages, system malfunctions or spam appear, then it is likely that the system is infected. If you are convinced that your computer is under the influence of malware, then this article is for you.

This manual is designed for users of the Windows 10 operating system.

Disconnect your computer from the Internet

Initially, you should close the browser and all running computer applications. Next, disconnect your computer from the Internet. If you use an Ethernet cable to connect to the Internet, simply disconnect the cable from the computer. If you use Wi-Fi, then disconnect the modem or router. If this is not possible, then follow this instruction:

1. Enter the word “Network” in the search bar. A list of options will appear and select “Network Status”
2. Select an item called Wi-Fi.
3. Click the Wi-Fi disable icon.

Look for easy ways

Many malware and adware can be removed effortlessly. The easiest step is to find the uninstaller of the unwanted program and simply delete it. To do this, open the Windows control panel, select the “Programs and Features” tab.

Next, find the malware or adware in the list by clicking on it and select the “Remove” item. After removing the unwanted program, restart the computer.

Scan

The next step is to let your antivirus do its job – scan the system. If possible, carry out this process in a computer safe mode. If there is no antivirus program, I highly recommend installing one of the best high-rated antiviruses.

The next tip is to update the database of potential viruses of your antivirus. Attackers work hard to create new malware every day. In contrast, new remedies regularly appear.

Install a program to search for and remove from malware

Currently, malicious programs are widespread, since they fraudulently bypass antivirus protection. If your antivirus has not found spyware, then you can use free programs designed to remove malware.

These programs will be useful to you: MalwareBytes, RogueKiller, AdwCleaner, and others. Each of them is a great addition to the security system of the Windows 10 operating system.

Alternative way

If you were unable to fix the problem with the above methods, then you should resort to the next step. You need to remove the malware while it is in a “sleep” state, that is, not active. The most efficient way would be to use a bootable USB device or a BartPE CD. You may need a second computer to create a boot device.

After downloading using a flashcard or CD, re-scan the system using antivirus software. You can also manually find and delete malicious files.

Checkout

Before reconnecting your computer to the Internet, you should check the Hosts file since some viruses might edit it. If you have not made any changes to it, then all lines in it should begin with a hash sign (#).

If there are entries that you did not make and that does not start with a hash, delete these entries and save the Hosts file. Also, make sure that the start and home pages of your browser are not changed.

We hope you find this article helpful.
